First Baron Football captains

Sam Black was the first Baron Football coach and the first Baron Wrestling coach. He won seven consecutive wrestling state championships. 

First Baron Basketball captains.

Ray Hambrick was the first Baron Basketball coach.  His 1965-1966 team won the most games and had the highest winning percentage of any Baron Basketball team.

Nancy Chapman won eight state championships in swimming; the most of any Baron in any sport.

Bobby Stokes was the Sports Illustrated Prep Punter of the Year and earned a football scholarship to the University of Miami.

Larry Graham earned a football scholarship to East Tennessee State University (ETSU) and was starting quarterback for the ETSU team that won the small college national championship.  At Briarcliff he won two wrestling state championships.

Martha Shults won a gymnastics state championship.

Elliott Price earned a football scholarship to Georgia Tech.

John Larrimore earned a basketball scholarship to DeKalb College.


Corky Umstead earned a basketball scholarship to West Georgia College.

Brian Mendel won a state wrestling championship.

Tina Buck averaged 28.2 points per game.



 Juan Adan earned a baseball scholarship to DeKalb College.
